Slides are resequencing

May 22, 2013

I have a product with multiple scenes, driven by triggers at the objective level to the content for the objective.  Two of the scenes contain 30+ slides, again with triggers to drive down through a column of slides.  When I go in and make changes to the slides, such as changing the font for the heading for each slide, the slides are resequencing.  I've tried jump to next and jump to a specific slide number to advance through the training; both have resulted in resequencing within the scene - sometimes to the point where a slide is totally orphaned off the side.  When I look at the slides after they are resequenced I noticed that the trigger now says jump to next, even when previously the trigger was jump to a specific slide number.

I've developed several training packages and this is the first time I've seen this happen.

Has anyone had experience with this - is there a setting I'm missing?

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Nancy!

First, please make sure that you're working with local project files:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If that doesn't help, please try importing the slides from this project into a new Storyline file. If you need information on how to import from an existing course, take a look at the tutorial below:

Importing from Another Storyline Project

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks,

Christine

I was working with local project files - no special characters, path correctly named, etc.  The project was finished and I was asked to change the weight of the box around the images.  This caused many of the individual slides to now say "jump to unassigned" and the slide was orphaned in the upper right hand corner.

Guess I'll try importing to a new Storyline file to see if that helps.
