Slow loading time Articulate Storyline SCORM file in Moodle.

Nov 14, 2018

Hello,

We would love to use Articulate Storyline 360 at our workplace so we are testing the possibilities.

We are using Moodle and uploaded a SCORM package with a short module we created to test to what extent it works for us.

Some testers have experienced quite long loading times even though their internet connection is fast (e.g. 20 seconds before a +/- 7 slide module completes loading with 47mb/s internet).

Is this normal or is this something we could do something about? Could this be something related to the LMS or is this loading time something we'd simply have to accept? We simply uploaded the attached .zip file as a SCORM package to Moodle. I am attaching our sample module here in case anyone would like to take a look!

We're ready to get a license, but with this issue popping up, we wonder if it is the right thing for us (especially as we do also work with countries with slower internet connections, so if it already has such a slow loading time with people with great internet, it's a bit worrying).

Thank you!
E.S

Thank you so much both for your responses! It is indeed very fast for me here (only took 2 seconds to load). For one of the other people who tried it, who is located in Dubai, it takes 16 seconds to load still.

For the LMS itself, do you know if anything specific that we could check within Moodle or the server to make it faster?

Thank you!

Hi,

Currently having same issue here. Still not solve. I'm using Articulate Stroryline 3 to produce SCORM 1.2. Size file 18mb.

Tested in https://cloud.scorm.com/ and our own LMS, it works fine, no playback delay. No loading issue. Even tested on Chrome, IE11, and Firefox and there is no issue, but when our client uploaded in their LMS, they experienced quite long loading times to launch a course. They are running it on IE11. Is it has something to do with their firewall? Since they are from banking industry. This is 8th SCORM we develop for this specific client, only this current SCORM (developed using Articulate 3) behave differently from the previous SCORM  (developed using Articulate 2 then upgrade to Articulate 3).

Tried to delete cache from browser but does not work. Tried import to new project story file also does not work.

Hi Jenny,

Have you reached out to your Moodle admin to see if there are any updates or settings that could be interfering with this?

The modern player relies strictly on HTML5, so it's also worth trying in a browser that is known to work well with HTML5 such as Chrome or Firefox (instead of using an older browser like IE11).

Keep us posted - it seems that there are a few folks in the community experiencing some Moodle hiccups over the years!
