Which file to load for lms

Typically, you'll want to zip the entire contents of the published output folder and load that up to your LMS as detailed here.   If your LMS requires that you identify a single launch file once you've uploaded your content, the file to point to is index_lms.html.

We don't support tracking multiple SCOs in the same course, although there are some unsupported methods detailed here. 

Does index_lms determine which content to display based on platform viewing it? eg. does iPad get html5 instead of flash.

I would like to answer the second part in a separate thread.

Little confused. In the link you provided it mentions to point to the story.html file.

Ashley above says to point to the index_lms.html file.

Which one do I point too then?

When in the LMS, if you are required to point to a specific file, you'll want to use the index_lms.html file, and that will behave the same as the story.html file in determining which version to show the user based on the device they're accessing it from.

The point of the article I shared was for you to understand how the content will display, as that's what I understood your question to be, and this applies to both as you can see in the linked article above.

Hi, my LMS is telling me you can't upload a file that ends in .html. When I tried uploading the zip, the html files would load, but the course won't register the scoring, and won't launch in a new player.

when you publish the file to LMS are you zipping from within the SL publish window?  

Perhaps if you let people know which LMS they can offer some assistance for you.

Yes, I zip the file and for rise I tried choosing either index.html or story.html, for storyline I choose index.html.

The courses are loading but they are not exiting, not logging score. I noticed the old courses that work, loaded in new windows and would refresh upon exit and log. These new ones aren’t opening in a new window / refreshing.

I'm using Halogen - Scorm 2004 - 2nd edition. I was able to get my rise courses to exit course correctly by uploading indexapi.html. Now need to figure out how to get the storyline 360 courses to exit and score correctly as neither index.html or story.html seem to be working.

Have you tried uploading to Scormcloud and see if it works there? If it does, then you may need to contact your LMS administrator (or vendor) and check with them

When I tried the index_lms.html I received the same error that others on this site have gotten. The only way the course loads without error is by pointing to story.html, but then it won't log the score. I still don't know why the same file when previously uploaded would launch in a new window, which leads me to believe I'm choosing the wrong file still.

Thank you for this post. We are also unsuccessful with index_lms.html. Story.html works. We are fortunate in that we don't pass back scores, so will be unaffected by that for the time being.
