This is an issue with some fonts. One way to do this is to select the letter (just the letter) and then in the home tab select the character spacing button in the fonts area (it looks like "AV" with a double arrow under it. From there you can select a variety of built in spacing options or choose a custom space. In your example you will probably want to go to a tight spacing.
