Start by designing your slide, including the object or button that you want users to click for the animation.
Then add the animation onto the objects you want. Whenever you add animations, a corresponding trigger would be added on the trigger pane. Right click on it, then click Edit.
The Trigger Wizard should allow you to select When you would like the animation to begin. Just choose User Clicks or Swipes, then choose the Object which the user should click.
Using this, you could either trigger animations to all start at the same time, or one after the other by indicating this on the Trigger Wizard of each individual animation.
A trigger only comes active if you use a motion path. I want a object to wipe on to the slide and I see no triggers that allow me to start any other animation than a motion path

You could use triggered motion paths, as shown in the attached example.
I want to trigger a multiple animation sequence with the click of a button that has wipes and spins.

To trigger entrance or exit animations, you could use a layer or object states. See attached a quick example.
I used layers to accomplish the task. it would be easier to use a trigger like the one used for a motion path. thanks for the help
