State change lag
Aug 17, 2020
Hi,
I'm currently upskilling myself on Storyline 360, and want to use it in a professional environment, but am experiencing a lag with a variable triggered state change.
I have 3 options on a slide - I want the bottom 2 options locked until the first section has been visited, so I have added an 'initial state' which is grey, and a variable which will change to true when this section is visited. I have added a trigger in for the second option, to return to the normal state, when the timeline starts, if the variable is set to true. It works, but there is a lag, and you can see the box turn from grey to blue in front of your eyes, which doesn't look good.
I was watching an official articulate tutorial and this lag isn't present. Weird.
I've attached the file, any help would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE - I have attached a video to show you what I mean
Thanks
Tom

Thomas,
We can't help you using the published output files, but if you will attach the .story file, someone can take a look at it.
Thanks, I've added the .story file, along with a video just to show what I mean. As you can see, I visit the 'what is underwriting' and want the 'types' to be blue when you go back, but it changes in front of your eyes, and isn't exactly a pleasing transition, as it simply flashes blue. Not the professional look I'm after.
The fade transition completes first, then the timeline starts, which explains the lag.
See if this is better. I set the type to change state when the timeline starts on the object rather than the slide. Then I set the slide to reset to initial state on reset to ensure that the timeline restarted on the objects. I never trust Automatically decide to decide the way I want it to.
Thank you Walt, much appreciated, and yes this makes sense - everything is done in an order. I learnt that from the true false variables not working as they slide changed before it was executed, I should have known. Thanks again, I’ll let you know when I get online and have a look!
