I just noticed that the Eyedropper function doesn't work properly. It always picks up gray. The same issue occurs when dealing with fonts and shapes. Any solutions? Thanks.
I use the eyedropper extensively and I've never noticed this issue. Has it just started happening? Can you post a slide you have tried it on and I'll see if I get the same result?
I followed the repair directions outlined in this discussion. However, I am still having the same problem. I am still having the issue. Here is a screenshot of eyedropper.
Hi, Ladd -- Thanks so much for sharing your file and we will be glad to take a closer look for you. I will follow up here with my findings as soon as possible (and thank you for mentioning that you have already run through the repair steps recommended in a previous thread).
In the meantime, you may want to take a look at the others ideas and suggestions mentioned in this document on Unexpected or Erratic Behavior in SL2. I'll be in touch!
Hi, Ladd -- Thanks so much for your patience while I checked out your file! Unfortunately, I did not experience any odd behavior when I went to the INSERT tab, added a shape (square), and clicked to be sure it was selected. I then went to the FORMAT tab, and from the SHAPE FILL option dropdown list, I chose Eyedropper, and it functioned properly.
Have you had a chance to check out the link I provided for when odd behavior is encountered? Please let us know if that helps, and if not, you may want to reach out to our Support Engineers for further investigation on what may be causing the issue you are experiencing.
Thanks for confirming, Wendy, and Ladd -- would it be possible for you to outline the steps you are taking when attempting to use the Eyedropper? OR even provide a short screen recording of what steps you are taking when you are encountering this behavior?
Ladd, one thing I've noticed on my PC is that I must hover the eye dropper for a second or so before it picks up the correct color beneath itself. Can you leave the eye dropper over a color for 30 seconds or so to see if it eventually changes?
Thanks for your input, Mike, and I have also experienced an ever-so-slight slight delay in the color being picked up by the eyedropper, almost to the point where if I would have blinked, I would have missed it! :)
Can you let us know if that does the trick for you when you have an opportunity, Ladd?
I completed the same steps you outlined. I am still getting a gray box. Also, I waited 30 seconds for the eyedropper to take hold. Same result, Is there any possibility this has to do with Windows 10? I recently upgraded my OS, but can't be sure the issue soon followed. Hmm.
Hi, Ladd -- thanks for your response and I will go ahead and check to see if I experience the same behavior in my Windows 10 environment. I will let you know momentarily! :)
Hi, Ladd -- Unfortunately, I did not experience any unusual behavior when I used the eyedropper in my Windows 10 virtual machine. As there could be more to the issue than meets the eye, I would like to recommend that you reach out to our Support Engineers for addition investigation. Please feel free to use this form to submit a case for further exploration.
I am also having the same trouble with the eyedropper tool. It only turns items gray, regardless of the color you click on. And I'm on Windows 10 as well. Storyline 2 update 10. Has anyone come up with a reason, or a fix for this?
This discussion is much older, so it's hard to say as I'm also not certain that Ladd worked with our Support Engineers. Also, it's worth noting that we're now on Storyline 2 Update 11.
I'd look at installing the update to see if that resolves anything, and then I'd invite you to work with our Support Engineers as well.
The problem worked itself out with a an online update to Windows 10. This
issue happened when I first upgraded from 8 to 10. While the engineers were
very helpful, they couldn't figure it out. It was frustrating since I use
the eyedropper function all the time. When the eyedropper started to
magically work, I noticed I received an update overnight.
Do you happen to know what update was installed before your eye dropper started working? I'm having the same problem, upgrade to Windows 10 and my eye dropper is only showing black.
I don't, but it wasn't long after the upgrade that it started working. I
upgraded a couple of years ago. As you have experienced, no eyedropper
function is very painful. At the time, they didn't have a solutuon. I would
go back and selecsolution. Windows updates as possible. It is well worth
the time. Sorry for this inconvenience. -Ladd
Hi Lauren,
It was update 10. I upgraded to update 11, which fixed the problem most of
the time, but sometimes the eyedropper still doesn't function. I just live
with it. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Was it a Windows update or a Storyline update that resolved it for you? I know Ladd had mentioned a Windows update prior. You could also look at repairing Storyline, and ensure you're on the latest update of Storyline 2, Update 11 - you can check by going to the Help tab and clicking About Articulate Storyline.

Here is the entire scene. Thanks for your help. :-)

Hi Ladd
I can confirm what Christie found - the eyedropper tool is working correctly.
Hope you can get it sorted out soon.

Thanks Ladd for that update here and I'm sorry our engineers weren't able to determine it! Windows updates can always be tricky.
Thank you for your good advice.

It was a Storyline update to 11, using a new computer running windows 10.
Thanks for your additional advice.
