Storyline 3 - Published output, can I edit source files to make scalable?

Nov 22, 2019

Hi Heroes,

I have a government compliance course uploaded to our LMS. It was built in Storyline 3 and all I have access to is the published output (scorm 1.2). Unfortunately, the course has been published at a fixed size, meaning that lots of our employees are unable to see player buttons due to the smaller size of their screens.

Is there any way I can edit the output files to change the size and/or make the course scalable? Help much appreciated.

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Ricky!

There isn't a way to edit a course's publish settings from this output, but it may help to see if the .story source file is in your temp files:

  1. Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline
  2. Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of the project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.
  3. Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.
  4. Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.

If there's anything else I can answer, I'll be here!

Thanks Katie,

I don't have access to the Story file. This is a government create course that is free to access. I can download the published output files from their website, which can then be zipped and uploaded to the LMS.

My issue is that the LMS isn't handling the course well. I've changed a couple of the config.js settings to help, however, I was hoping I could also do something to force the course to open in a smaller window. Currently, it is too big for some of the screens in our business.

I can see lot's of size options in the output files, I just don't know which to edit!

Hopefully that gives you more context!
