Storyline 3: Reset to Initial State not working for Pick Many Drag-and-Drop Interaction when revisiting the quiz slide

Sep 23, 2017

I created a simple quiz using drag-and-drop with more than one correct answers. The slide base layer's Slide Properties' [When revisiting] option is set to "Reset to initial state".

When accessing the quiz slide for the first time, it works as intended, i.e. the correct answer message will be displayed when submitting ALL the correct answer options dropped into the target box.

However, when revisiting the quiz slide, whether by clicking it from the left hand menu item in the player, or from the previous slide's navigation button linking to it within the player, there is this error: the correct answer message will be displayed when submitting JUST one of the correct answer options dropped into the target box.

Please advise:
#1. what setting is to be set for the quiz slide, and
#2. how to do a global setting, if available, for the quiz slide that are used in multiple scenes.

Thanks.

Hi TS,

Thanks for sharing what you've run into - and it sounds similar to an issue we've reported to our team where after answering a drag and drop correctly, and revisiting the slide for a second attempt (using "retry" button or navigating back using the "prev" button the question is marked correctly when only the first item is dropped.

Luckily we've reported this to our team recently!

Depending on priority and risk, some bugs can be fixed quickly, while others take longer to resolve. Here's more information on how we identify and tackle bugs.

I’ll let you know as soon as we have an update on this issue. Thanks so much again for letting us know about this, and I’m sorry if it’s slowing you down.

Mick,

Thanks for your sharing. Although “Resume saved state” will be the last option to deploy, I am still hopeful to find a solution that can achieve “Reset to initial state” for the quiz when revisiting.

Ashley,

Thanks for the info.  I look forward to get the update on this issue while working on other segments of the courseware.

Regards.

Hi all,

Great news!  We just released another update for Articulate 360, and included a few important fixes and new features that you'll see in the release notes here.

The item you'll be interested in is how it fixed the issue where freeform drag-and-drop questions could be marked correct on the second attempt in HTML5 output even when learners answered incorrectly.

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for each application. Details here.

Please let us know if you have any questions, either here or by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.
