Is there a way to trigger a marker to open? The only states that I see for a marker are the states for the marker itself, not a state for the title and text that appear when the user clicks the marker. But I would like to trigger the marker being open (displaying the title and text).
I have put a link in a marker that opens a layer. When the user closes the layer, I would like the marker to remain open (showing the text). However, the marker always closes when they return to the base layer, and you have to click on it again to open it. (I tried the Resume Saved State option on the layer.) How can I arrange that when the user closes the layer, the marker is still open?
Marker captions will close automatically when the user clicks anywhere outside the marker (including anywhere on a layer). Since you'd prefer the marker to stay open, have you considered using a custom caption on a layer?
I created a quick sample for you to show you how it could work. Have a look, and let me know what you think!
Thanks Alyssa! I did not realize I could use a built-in marker but make my own caption. I just may use this approach. It also solves the issue of only being able to put a single graphic in a caption, which I have found limiting.
Hi, there, just wondering how you use the marker with a custom caption? My markers are quite close together, and it seems like the learner needs to roll outside the marker in order to be able to click on the next one.
Were you able to take a look at the file Alyssa shared before? If they're very close together I could see that being an issue, as it's the hover over each one that's likely what is causing you some trouble yes?
The normal setup of a marker is once a user has clicked/hovered outside that marker it would hide and you could click on a new one. In the example, Alyssa created Wendy was hoping for the marker captions to remain visible.
Since your markers are placed close together on the slide, could you adjust the direction of the marker captions so they don't overlap other markers? Simply click and drag the captions to change the direction. Here's a sample of what I mean!

I'm glad that will work for you, Wendy! Best of luck on your project!
