I created a test crossword puzzle. In Preview, when you enter the letters correctly, and click the button to submit, it properly displays the "correct" layer. However, when published, and you enter the letters correctly, and click the button to submit, it shows the incorrect layer. One across spells: cat; Two down spells map
I attached a image of the wizard I created. The last condition can not be seen in the image, but it is the following:
First, are you on the latest update of Storyline 360? To check, click the Help tab, then click About Storyline. You should see 3.26.18364.0 in the bottom-right corner.
Also, how are you viewing the published output? Is it hosted on the web, or are you viewing it from your local computer?
Interesting find, Mark - although I'm not entirely sure I understand it. Within publish or preview, clicking submit should be enough to remove the focus from other text entries to allow for it to correctly validate the entries.
Also, if you're able to update we'd always recommend that to ensure you have the latest patches and fixes.

Thank you Alyssa for your response. I am not running the latest version.
However, I figured out that in the Published view I have to remove the cursor from all crossword squares before clicking submit.
