Storyline 360 - Publish to CD results in missing images

Feb 10, 2022

I recently published a course and used CD for the published format. While viewing the course in the .EXE file I discovered that many of the images were missing and instead were replaced with an X in a box. In some cases some images displayed and some were an X in a box. Why does this happen to some images and not others? It doesn't seem to matter if the image is .JPG or .PNG. This was done on a PC and not a Mac.

Hello Russ,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing what you are experiencing with your published output files.

Be sure the file paths to your projects and published output are well under the 260-character limit imposed by Microsoft Windows. (The publishing process adds characters to the file path you selected. If it exceeds 260 characters, your published output will be incomplete.)

Avoid special characters, accents, or symbols in your file paths and file names. Learn more about naming conventions in this Microsoft article.
