Storyline Color Scheme Reverts Back issue

Apr 21, 2015

Hello

The color scheme in Storyline 1 keeps reverting back to an old original color scheme.  I know this was a bug and I used to just keep changing it to the correct color scheme before I published; this workaround addressed the issue.

Now, when I go to the Player tab to change the color scheme to the correct scheme and/or when I go the Publish setting to change the color scheme and when I publish without previewing, it doesn't hold the new color scheme.

Any thoughts? I am using the latest Storyline 1 release.

Hi Danielle,

I'm not sure I know the bug you're referencing and didn't find it searching just now. Do you have a forum thread or KB article that you're referring to? Also just to confirm, you mean the Player colors not the theme colors?

If  you're seeing this behavior recently but didn't experience it before it may be worth going through the repair as described here.

Despite repairing the file, the color scheme on the Player skin (e.g. the BG color) keeps reverting to a very old color scheme.  I even tried renaming the old color scheme after finding the file in Windows Explorer (:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Articulate\Shared\2.0\Frames\StoryFrame\ColorSchemes)  but the issue still remains.   The Color Scheme I am referring to is listed in Player Properties and the Publish Menu (attached).  The color I want is shown BMOGradiant yet notice how the menu in each image shows the old color BMO2.

Each new color scheme I develop someone automatically changes into the old incorrect color scheme BMO2.

Thoughts?

Hi Danielle,

I can see that the name is listed as BMO2, but it's hard to know that this isn't the BMOGradient since I haven't seen all your player color/setups. It looks like the BG color is set to be white? There was only one image here, so perhaps you meant to include more elements? You mentioned "repairing the file" do you mean the repair steps I mentioned to resolve your installation of Storyline? Have you also confirmed that you're working with local project files, including saving the player color schemes locally?

If you're still having difficulty, could you look at sharing the player color scheme with me as described here?

You raise a good point - I wasn't able to export the correct color scheme.

I was able to do a work around: By going in and manually updating the colors on the Players Tab and then again on the Publishing setting, I got it to work.  It keeps defaulting to the old scheme with very dark blue bottom instead of the medium blue bottom so it's not solved completely but it worked to publish.

Then I was able to create a solution: I ensured I saved the new template using Save Player As.  I double checked and I was now able to export the color scheme file.  And the correct Color Scheme is now showing up in the Publish Menu.

Yeah!  I hope these tips can also help some one else. I still need to check each Color Scheme before publishing because it reverts back, but at least there's a solution.
