Storyline in Canvas- Remembering Selections

Aug 21, 2020

I am trying to create a bingo card interaction where users will login to Canvas (the LMS) and select some buttons in a Storyline object. They will not submit these selections. I would then like the user to be able to leave the SL object and return to it at another time (within a week or so) and be able to see their saved selections and continue making new selections. Essentially, it will be a week-long bingo game that allows them to "check off" their selections at any point during the week. They would then need to submit their bingo card at the end of the week for a prize.

Does anyone know how to save the user's responses, regardless of the device they are using? Meaning, if they login from their phone, so long as it's the same login as the first time, they can still see those saved responses.

I suspect there may be some xAPI involved, but any input would be great!

Thanks,

Have you tried setting all slides to "Return to saved state on revisit", and letting them resume, rather than marking the course as complete?

I'd think it would work best with only one slide, and they would need instructions to choose to resume rather than restart.

If the visited states didn't persist, you might need to use variables and a custom state for the chosen objects.

Hi Shannon,

I just tried one of the Storyline resources in one of my Canvas modules. I first accessed it via my PC and then on my phone through the Canvas app using the same login for Canvas and it picked up where I left off.

The only thing that I've done is set the Storyline file to prompt to resume (you could set it to always resume) and uploaded it to Canvas as a SCORM file. I'm guessing Canvas is saving the state of the SCORM file somewhere.
