I assisted a user with a very simple example earlier and seeing the setup may help in what you are trying to accomplish as well. States and triggers are the key.
When you create your slider set your Start and End point. Then in the Step field type "50". This will make sure that every time the slider is moved, it will be by 50 steps.
You can use the variable in the slider (usually called slider#) to show the number that it currently is. You can also add a trigger to assign the same value as the slider value every time the slider is moved.
