Storyline templates

Mar 22, 2013

Hi, I've read the tutorial on template usage at http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/using-and-creating-storyline-templates.aspx?

I've a simple problem: i must apply a new template to a soryline course.

We have the template file, the theme exported file and the player file.

If i try to apply the colour theme, by the aommand browse for a theme file at the end of the themes list, Articulate simply does not import the theme into the course.

There is no way to apply a template to the entire course. The only thing that work is the selection of the player previously saved.

Any ideas? It seems there is no way to use templates after having produced the course content and if so, I think templates are totally unuseful...

Hi Carlo. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

(love the avatar by the way!)

That sounds a bit strange, so I'm not entirely sure I'm understanding exactly what's happening. You're trying to open a custom theme file, but the changes aren't being applied to the course, correct?

No, whether or not the course was created prior to applying a template, or starting with a template, shouldn't make a difference.

Did you create the template file yourself, or are you using one from one of the posted tutorials?

Hi Christine, My english is quite rusty...

I've saved a storyline file as a template. Let's name it T1. It's a simple course with a master theme for the 5 standard layout we've used in the course named C1 and an empty slide inside.

I've saved from T1 the theme and the player.

Now the question is:

How can i apply the template, the colour theme, the player and the fonts to the course file C1?

Player: no problem i import it form the saved one.

Colour scheme and design theme: when i try to import into the C1 form the saved file, nothing appens.

Is there any way to simply apply the template T1 to the course C1?

Thankyou for the reply.

about the avatar the story is simple:

One day my chief said me: you use linux like a mage! and from that day... a little penguin gandalf

Hi Carlo,

You should be able to do this. However.. and this is just a suggestion.. maybe it would be easier (and faster) to just create a new project with the original (C1) course using the "Save As" feature for the second course (T1). Then, you can simply add the new content to the new project and already have all of the modifications you made in the previous course.

Just a thought Would that work for you?

Hi Christine, I think i'm not able to explain you the situatiion.

We have some content specialist and course designer that build the course content.

There are some design specialist that personalize the couse graphics tomeet the customers needs.

Saem content, more than one graphic.

So C1 is the course content made by Marco

T1 is the template made by Renato.

How can i apply T1 to C1 without changing everything manually slide by slide?

I must apply fonts, colour schemes and player.

Hi there Carlo,

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I was under the impression you just needed to carry the deign into another course you were working with, not sharing it with others.

Here's a few tutorials you may want to check out:

If you're still unable to get the fonts, color schemes or player templates to import into a new file, we may want to take a look at what's happening. You'll be able to attach the .STORY file on the second page of the following form:
