Stoyline 2, CSOD, Chrome, IE11, Flash, and HTML5 - A Perfect Storm?

Apr 22, 2019

We are currently implementing Cornerstone on Demand and we are encountering some issues with our Storyline2 authored courses.

We have come across these issues in other LMS products(Taleo & Travitor), but never top the extent we are seeing in CSOD:

Sometimes courses will play in IE11 and not in Chrome

Sometimes courses will play in Chrome and not in IE11

Sometimes courses will not track completions

All of the courses are published the same way:

-SCORM 1.2

-Include HTML5

-Completed/Incomplete

I think as Flash dies out most LMS products will stop supporting that format and that will continue to cause issues. Could this problem be solved by exporting as HTML5 only without having to open the exported manifest and deleting each SWF file?

If anyone has experience with these issues or some export insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to eLearning Heroes, Josh!

Sorry to hear you're running into those inconsistencies. We're happy to help you troubleshoot!

To start, have you tried testing your courses in SCORM Cloud (an industry-standard LMS testing tool) to see if you can replicate the playback and completion issues there? The outcome will tell us if the problem lies within your Storyline or LMS' output.

With your permission, I can help test one of the troublesome files there. You can share it publicly in our discussion here, or send it to me privately by using this upload link. I'll share my findings with you, and will delete it when we solve this puzzle!
