Student viewing records

Feb 04, 2013

Hello good people,

I have developed an online assessment (in Articulate Storyline), which contains multiple choice questions. It is a part of of an interview process. We want to review and analyse the results  before discussing with the interviewee. Therefore, we do not want the interviewee to see his/her results. This is where I am experiencing a problem.

The results slide is set to a 80% pass mark. When I publish the course to Articulate Online, the tracking is set to completed/not completed. The course has free navigation which allows the interviewee to review/change responses and all responses are submitted at once. And at the end of the course, I have an exit button for the interviewee to exit the assessment. This all works extremely well, but after exiting, the interviewee is taken back to the Articulate Online contents page where he/she can see results displayed in the status bar. See below. Previously,  I had the tracking set as passed/failed, so the interviewee would have have seen Failed X% - not what we want to them to see!!!

My question: How can I prevent the interviewee from viewing his results

  • Am I able to delete/change the status bar.
  • Can I get the interviewee to exit the Articulate Online site, rather than just the assessment.

I am sure there is a simple fix, but I just cannot work it out!!!

Any help would be greatky appreciated.

Hi Jo,

Unfortunately, I'm not able to see the image you posted, so I'm having a little trouble visualizing what's happening.

I'm assuming the course is set to "Private" and you're having the users log in with Articulate Online to take the course, correct? When they finish the course and close it, it goes to a new page and displays the score, is that right? Are you using a launch button for the course?

If you can give me a little more information, I'll try to see if I can find a way to keep this information from displaying to your students.

Thanks!

Hi Christine,

Thank you for your response. All your assumptions below arecorrect (however, not using a launch button).

I have supplied a bit more detail and would greatly appreciateyour assistance.

Course Information

  1. The course is private.
  2. I am using Storyline and Articulate Online.
  3.  The student is emailed their  login information.
  4. The link to the course is emailed to student .
  5. The link is typed into Internet Explorer and student logs in or the student clicks on link and logs in.

6.      I have not used a launch button.

7.      The course consists of 60 multiple choice questions.

8.      It has been set up to submit all answers at the end, thusallowing the student to go back and review/change responses

9.      The results page is set at 80% pass.

10.  The course is timed for 1 ½ hours.

11.  After submitting, I have a ‘thank-you’ page that says. ‘Thankyou for completing this assessment.’ No other information is shown, i.e., Noscore, pass mark, review option etc. (see pic 2)

12.  I did have an exit button to exit the course on the thank youpage (have removed it).

All of this works beautifully and we are all quite chuffed withit!!!!

Problem

However, when the studentclicks on the exit button, it take him back to the contents page where he cansee his result (see pic 3).

I thought it may be the exit button as I read it does not workwell with some browsers and their security.  I am currently checking tosee if this works.

Changes sinceidentifying the problem

1.      When publishing, I did have it set as passed/failed, but havechanged it to completed/incomplete.

2.      Removed exit button

Hi Jo,

Thanks for all the information. Again, however, the images you posted aren't showing up. Were they copied and pasted into the thread by any chance? Can you try inserting them as images using the tools along the top of your response, or include them as attachments?

Having said that, however, it may be easier for us to pinpoint the issue if we can see the actual course. Would you mind submitting a support case with us, so we can take a closer look at this? If you can share the course details, or the course files in the case it would be a big help in narrowing the issue down. Also, please share the case number with me (you're welcome to share it here, or in a private message).

Thanks again Jo!

Christine
