Submit button in template?

Jan 21, 2021

I would like to find a way to add a submit button to surveys and questions rather than the built in check mark in the far corner. Is there not a way to add this as a template or something? Newbie here, so excuse me if that is obvious, but I haven't found it yet.

Hey, David,

You can definitely add your own button to submit the survey or question. You just have to insert the button and manually add a trigger that will submit your survey or question when that button is clicked. I attached a simple .story file as an example.

I am not sure if you've already seen this tutorial but it might point you to the right direction when it comes to using buttons in Storyline 360. I hope this helps you. Feel free to reach out if you have further questions.

I'm pretty sure you can't do that. It won't work on a slide or layer master, because each trigger contains the type of interaction in it. They would have to be edited individually, and you can't do that with triggers on masters.

Your idea to edit the question templates is a better idea. It might even be possible, but I bet at a pretty high expenditure of resources.  For one thing, they would have to be found and edited outside of SL. Personally, I wouldn't spend the time necessary to try and dig them out to see if I could edit them.

What I would do is create a clickable object, and save it on my library slide. Then when you have a question slide, copy it to the slide, and fill in the trigger, and turn the submit button off.

Hey David,

You are welcome and I apologize as I seemed to have misunderstood your original intent.

With that said, I agree with Walt that although it is possible to edit the templates outside SL360, I would not recommend it either unless it is vital to your project.

I am not sure if this would help but you can also try creating 1 slide within your project as a template and add all the formatting, buttons and triggers you need. You can then duplicate the slide every time you are adding a question. This way, you can minimize the number of modifications you need to make in each question slide.

Otherwise, Walt's suggestion seems to have you covered.
