Submit Essay

Jun 12, 2020

I am creating a course that will reside in Workday Learning. I want to use the essay question for the learner to submit thoughts on what they've learned. I see there is a submit essay button but what do I have to do after that so I can see their response? Where does the essay submit to? Do I need a results slide? Then how do I make it accessible to the facilitator? Appreciate all your help.

I David, does Workday Learning have SCORM? If the answer is yes you will be able to send some data to the system if you publish as SCORM. You will need a results slide that processes the question I believe. Be aware with SCORM version 1.2 you will be limited to 255 characters of data. If you can publish to SCORM 2004 3rd edition, you won't have to worry about characters limits.

Hey Sam, was hoping it would sent the content of what was typed in response to the survey question. I did get the send email to work and it did as you described. What I am trying to do is to be able to view the response to the survey question. I am housing the course in the Workday LMS.

Hi David, it should be possible to get the response from the LMS then using the SCORM API the Essay would be stored to a cmi.interaction. You may need to talk to your LMS admins to determine what reports they have available. You should be able to run a report for all users. Be aware that SCORM 1.2 will only allow 255 characters per essay question. SCORM 2004 you should not have to worry about character limits.

Also, just letting you know your email signature came through with your response.
