subscription training website using SL courses

Jan 13, 2014

Hi,

I want to start a subscription training website where members have unlimited access to short courses built in Storyline. Similar to Lynda.com, but the audience is hobbyist rather than business/corporate, and the courses as I say will be built in SL rather than being videos. So I'm not selling the courses themselves, just access for as long as membership is paid. I expect to be adding 4-6 courses (at approximately 10 minutes each) per month. I'm guessing number of memberships relatively low at first, maybe up to 1000.

So my questions are:

- Is anyone else in the Storyline community using a similar model?

- Can anyone suggest a reputable web hosting service that can handle this kind of traffic and data? I'm not at all technical so although I've spent a lot of time searching around and trying to learn what I should know, it all seems pretty complicated. On the other hand I don't believe I need anything as complicated as an LMS, as members will not be graded, don't need to track scores or completion, etc.

Thanks in advance for any info or suggestions!

Sara

Hi Sara,

I haven't seen a lot of threads with a discussion similar to the question you've posed, but I've seen other users talk about hosting content on a subscription site in threads such as this one and this one includes additional suggestions on sites to use. You may want to connect with some of those users for additional recommendations.

Good luck with your projects!
