Sync timeline audio to video

I have video content in my course. 

I have created text- to- speech to go along with the video. However, when the user pauses the video, the timeline continues so the audio continues as well. 

I added a trigger to pause the times line when the user click on the video (pauses it) but I do not know how to make the timeline resume when they hit the play button again to restart the video. 

Also, I tried creating my own play and pause buttons that sync with the time line. This works, but then the user cannot scroll the video with an accurate timeline. 

There must be a better way to make the videos and audio sync.
