Synchronizing and tracking of quizes when viewing offline on iPad

Aug 16, 2012

Hi All,

I am working on new courses for our company that will all have a quiz at the end.

Now, to view a course offline on an iPad is great and is clear to me. But the next thing is how the results will/can be tracked and synchronized when the course is made offline?! Does anyone have experience with this?

I have been checking the forum and tutorials but I got a little confused and things got a bit too technical for me. What I did understand is that I will have to check with the LMS we will be using, if they support Tin Can API. Eventhough I am not quite sure what it does or means.

Any suggestions or explanations are very welcome, so thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Kind regards,

Chris

Some LMS's already support disconnected learning where a course can be downloaded to your PC, taken offline and then re-synced.

I know Saba does this--essentially the course has to be in SCORM and a mini-SCORM LMS gets wrapped around the downloaded course for offline playback and later syncing back to the "Saba Mother Ship."

Not sure how that would work on the iPad, however.  Seems to me, again, it may have to be something the LMS supplies and the content might have to be in HTML5.  Not sure.
