Tab focus not following tab order

Feb 10, 2017

I'm having an issue with the tab order of my slides - when I press the tab key, the focus is not following the tab order, default or custom. It's tabbing in an altogether different order. When I navigate to another slide (usually by Tabbing to the Next button in the player and pressing the space bar), the tab focus on the next slide is not on the first object listed in the tab order. I've tried resetting the tab order multiple times, and both the default and custom tab orders. Some slides have layers, and in the layer settings I have selected "Prevent the user from clicking the Base Layer" so that the base layer objects are not included in the layer tab order (this works, by the way).

Does anyone have any insights as to what may be happening here?

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for reaching out! I've seen this issue before, and it usually happens when objects are grouped. Do you happen to have grouped objects on your slide? If so, try un-grouping them, and let me know if you see an improvement.

If that doesn't help, would you be able to share your file here so we can take a look at your set-up?

I'm sorry that didn't fix the tab order, Melissa. Since ungrouping the objects didn't work, we would need to take a look at your file to pinpoint what's causing the issue. If you're not able to share it publicly in the forums, could you send it to us privately by way of this form?  Our Support Engineers keep all files confidential, and they are happy to sign an NDA, if you wish. :)
