Techniques for emphasis - spotlighting

Hi all!

What are some good techniques in this tool you have found to emphasize content on the screen.  If I want to have content on the screen throughout the slide (rather than use timeline to bring it in at a later time) but at a certain point in my audio I want this content to be highlighted, what options do I have in Storyline? Can I make it glow? Pulse? Dim background?  So far all I can see to use is the Markers to 'point out' the area of interest.
