Temperamental markers

May 22, 2020

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if everyone else has the same problem...

Markers are really temperamental. I have markers with text in them. The title is set to show on hover.

However, it doesn't always show the title on hover, you have to move the mouse away from the marker and back over it to get it to show.

If the title isn't showing on hover and you click it, the text doesn't show - but the state of the marker does (we have it to change colour when visited).

Obviously, I  know I have to be patient and wait until the title appears until I click it - but learners don't and won't do that.

We've been using storyline for over 2 years now and it's always done this.

Anyone having the same problem?

Kassy

Hi Kassy,

Thank you for reaching out!

To make sure I am on the same page, is the title of the marker's text box not always appearing when hovering over the marker icon? I created a sample file to see if I could replicate the behavior you are describing, but I do not see similar results. Here is a quick snippet of how markers look on my side with the action set to Show All on HoverVideo of Marker on Hover

May I ask if you could share a screen recording of the behavior you see? This would help out greatly to help determine the best next steps!

Hi Kassy,

How strange! Definitely keep us posted if that issue re-occurs.

Hi Michael,

Great questions!

To adjust the settings for the behavior of the marker, you will want to click on the Marker Tools Format tab. From there, the Marker Option section is where you can change how the Marker behaves:

If the Show All on Hover is unchecked, learners will need to click on the marker to show the description:

Please let us know if you have any questions!
