Thanks for chiming in here. What version of Storyline are you using? What do you see if you go to the Home tab on the ribbon, click New Slide, and choose My Templates?
The when adding a slide and selecting templates, it's says I have none installed.
So I created a folder of the appropropriate name in My articualate projects folder, moved some personal templates into it, and those show up.
What I need to know is how to get back the "build-in" storyline templates.
Were they templates you had used in Storyline 3 previously, or ones you had been using in Storyline 2 or Storyline 1?
If the latter, those won't carry over automatically but it's easy enough to add them back in by opening up the Storyline 1/2 version and automatically upgrading it to Storyline 3. Then follow the steps here to create your own template.
If that folder wasn't on your computer any longer, it's possible it was deleted or removed by accident? That would remove the templates you had stored there as well.

Oh no, Chris! Let's see if we can track down those lost templates.
First, are you working on your local hard drive, or on a shared network drive?
If you're already working locally, do you see any files in this folder on Windows?

I just noticed the same issue. I do not have a folder reference above.
What can I do to get my templates or the built-in templates from storyline?
