Test wont allow other "added" buttons to be clicked WITHOUT triggering a fail and adds +1 to fail count.
Oct 28, 2020
For some time I have been battling this issue.
Scenario:
- I create a screen recording, import/save as a step by step test. It automatically makes the hotspots, and incorrect / try again layers. (this is as expected)
- If I add a button (a hotspot for example) that triggers a "review instructions" layer - and preview/publish the course - , that button will trigger "try again" and add +1 to the failed counter. This is not the desired result.
Most importantly! This is not consistent behavior! I have been able to add buttons on some slides and they will not trigger a "fail" (as I prefer). and on others I CAN NOT make the test ignore the button interaction. In some instances if I copy and paste the buttons that work, the attribute follows (ignored by the test). so there is definitely some sort of attribute that allows a button to NOT trigger the test.
Upon investigation I can not find what makes it work, and not work. it almost seems like luck.

I don't mind sharing it. I made a generic test, and it has some off the issues I am dealing with.
In this example, it is counting the "help" button as one of the 3 attempts allowed on the test. some of my other test even trigger the "incorrect" if you click help. its hit and miss.. but this generic test seems to show most of the issue.
Hi Christopher,
Thanks for sharing your file! I was consistently able to count the Help button as part of the graded hotspot interaction. With a test scene, anything selected outside of the correct hotspot is considered incorrect.
You may try changing the Submit action to On Double Click and making that clear in the instructions. This way, the single clicks on the Help button will not be counted.
Let me know if that helps!
That would work, but it makes the test really difficult to make in any accurate manner, as we are testing their actions. and a single click is part of the correct action.
This will be a thorn until its fixed. please keep me abreast of some method of making storyline ignore a button as per tests.
