Text Autofit improvements

Apr 19, 2022

In storyline 3, after latest update 13 april 2022, my projects will not open due to text autofit improvements saying it is not available in the latest version of storyline. Does this mean I have to redo the whole dame project, and how do I turn this off? Very annoying!!!!!

Hello... In storyline 3 I am experiencing the same problem, (Text Autofit improvements?!!) which is a HUGE problem, with all of my SL3 files!!  is there a fix for this ?    Can't open, can't import ... this is a disaster and really not good for my deadlines.  Leon did you get an answer to this problem?

HI Sherry Rose,

No I have raised a ticket and am waiting for a reply. I paid a lot of money
for this software and I will need to get it to work.

The only other option I have is to look on my laptop for an older version
and do a complete reinstall and then just work on the older versions.

I will let you know as soon as I get a reply. I am developing courses for a
training company and cannot afford delays.

I am from South Africa and do not have access to unlimited resources.

Sherry Rose,

Just got this reply

Hi Leon,

Thanks for contacting Articulate Support!

I understand that you cannot open your project due to the "text autofit
improvements" prompt.

In most cases, you can open storyline 360 and Storyline 3 project files
interchangeably. There are a few exceptions, though. If a Storyline 360
project file has features exclusive to Storyline 360, you won't be able to
open it with Storyline 3. See this article for details:

https://www.articulate.com/support/article/Compatibility-Between-Storyline-3
60-and-Storyline-3-Project-Files

The good news is that we can get around this limitation by importing your
project's slides into a new file using Storyline 360. Just follow these
steps:

https://community.articulate.com/articles/articulate-storyline-360-user-guid
e-how-to-import-slides-from-other-storyline-projects

I've attached a version of your project where I applied this solution and
got it to open in Storyline 3. Give it a try, and let me know if it works.

Hello Leon.  thank you for the email.  I just received a bunch of help on 360 when this is not my issue.  And I am in the same boat as you when it comes to Development and limited resources.  I did read that you cannot go back to another version ??  I have reached out to Articulate and have received an unhelpful email from Fannie May Alba.  I am standing by to see if she comes up with another / better fix.  I will let you know.

Sherry Rose,

None of the fixes worked for me, but the mail address of the person who
helped is on the mail.

Other alternative is to send the files to them so they can do the same
work-around.

The did rework the file and sent it back to me and that worked. I have saved
it and reopened it and it worked.

Hope you win your side.

Hi Leon... talking to Fannie May Alba,  she converted my file back for me... so I am going to see how that works for now... apparently this is a new bug and they are working on it... doesn't help us much in the mean time... anyway, get in touch with Articulate and ask them to convert your file(s) back and send them back to you.   It appears that my file is working now... we will see.

Hi, Sherry and Leon.

We just released the fix for the issue reported where project files wouldn't open after duplicating a text object.

Hi Leon and Sherry

I experienced the "text autofit improvements" issue as well with my Storyline 3 after installing the Build 3.16.27367.0 update.

I needed a temporary solution urgently as I had several projects in hand to complete, therefore, I uninstalled Storyline 3 and reinstalled an old .exe installer (Storyline 3, 20 Dec 2021 version), which I had a copy of. If you have a copy of an older version of the .exe installer by any chance, you can try to do the same - deactivate > uninstall > install the older version > reactivate, and see if this works for you too.

The older version is more stable in this case. If the latest update is not urgent for any of us, I think it may be best to wait a while longer for it to be more stable before updating our Storyline 3. Let's give Articulate more time to do more bug fixes if required.

Hope this helps!
