Text box loses formatting

I have some course variables (Text type) that are set when my course begins, using javascript.
On the splash page of my course, I am showing some of that text in Text Boxes (course name, description, time to complete).
I've put the variable references in the text where I want them to show up and formatted the text boxes (see Attachment 1 - editing).
The problem I'm having is that when the variable reference gets replaced with the actual (plain, non-formatted) text in the variable at runtime (in HTML5), some of the formatting is lost (see Attachment 2 - runtime).
Any suggestions for how to resolve/work around this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Leston,
Thanks for contacting us and explaining what you are experiencing in your published output and for sharing the images, which I can see in your initial posting as well.
Fonts that you apply to variable references in your Storyline courses might not always be the fonts learners see in published output.
We are tracking a feature request for this and I've added this discussion to the report.
I wanted to share some information about how we manage these feature requests as that may be helpful.
Hi Leslie,
Thank you for the reply to my question. In the link that you embedded, it says "And fonts for variable references are now embedded in HTML5 output so learners always see the correct fonts." ... Is that statement just flat wrong, or am I missing something?
This behavior is strange b/c in the 1st case, it's showing the correct size font, but not in bold. In the 2nd case it's the wrong size. And in the 3rd case it's perfectly correct!
Is there any way to work around this? ie to trick it into doing it correctly (like in the 3rd case).
My goodness. Do you have all those cases in one course? Are you using the Modern Text in Storyline 360? If so, it sounds like we need to take a look.
With your permission, I'd like you to share your project file with our support engineers to investigate what's happening. You can share it privately by uploading it here. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.
All on the same slide actually. You can see all 3 on that single page in the attachments I shared.
Yes, I am using Modern Text in Storyline 360.
Case created and .story file uploaded.
Hi Leston,
Thanks for keeping us in the loop! I see that my teammate, Darrell, has reached out and is reviewing your files currently.
Once he's done testing, he'll reach out with next steps. You're in great hands!
