Text Box Trigger Disappears When Hover Over to Click - URL Works

Jul 08, 2014

Hi, I can't determine why when I go to click a Text Box (Trigger to a URL) that it disappears when I hover over it. I can still click in the blank area where the hyperlink text should display and the hyperlink works fine. The issue is that the text disappears when I hover over they link. This course is posted in our production LMS system and is live. I've read through numerous threads, asked our internal SMEs and the only answer I've found is that it might be my hyperlink color setting in my themes. So, I tried changing that (it was already blue so that shouldn't have made a difference) and it made no difference. Attached is a pictures showing what it looks like when I click the area (blank). The trigger I am using is (Jump to URL/File) when the user clicks the text box name. Hope someone can help! Thank you

Hi Abby and welcome to Heroes!

Thanks for sharing the image here - and I'm curious about what hover trigger you've used and if you've set it to "restore on hover leave" or if you've adjusted the state of your shape that may be hiding it? Are you able to share your .story file here with us or even just that one slide so that we could take a look at it?

Hi Ashley, thank you! I had to get the presentation out so I went a different route. I changed the font in the text box to blue, added an underline to the text (to give the appearance of a hyperlink) and then I took a Snag-it of the text box. I then simply uploaded into the project as a PNG image and added a URL trigger to the image vs. the previous text box. It took a few more steps and doesn't include a hover, but the outcome is the same when the user clicks. Thanks for the information above and I'll check that out.

Hi Abby,

Thanks for the update and I'm glad you were able to create a method that worked for you. If you have the original file or are able to recreate it, I'm happy to take a look for any future projects you may be working on. It's also a great reminder to review the information here on working with Storyline files and general guidelines to follow.
