Text boxes no longer wrap

Apr 10, 2018

I'm putting together a preview, to try and get the higher ups to buy Articulate for the company (I'm in a 2-month trial)...everything was fine last night, today all of my text boxes no longer wrap.  Instead of automatically starting a new line, they all go off the page...ALL of them.  How can I fix this?

Hi James!  That sounds really strange - I'm sorry for the momentary panic!

Can you double check if your .story file is saved locally to your C: drive?

Also, can you share your .story file for me to have a look?  If not, I'd be interested to know what your text box format is presently.  If you right click your text box (or the shape if it isn't a text box), choose Format Shape, and click on the Text Box tab, I'm curious if the format of all of these text boxes changed somehow.

Hi Sayema,

I'm sorry you've run into such trouble too. Did you already check into the information Crystal shared in terms of ensuring that you're working on local project files and adhering to the other guidelines here for file maintenance?

If you're able to share a copy of your .story file I can take a look too and see if I spot anything else off.

This happens randomly when I import too...I just did that last week with a PowerPoint, I imported it, everything was fine.  Then I went to edit it, and some of the text boxes no longer wrapped, they just went off the presentation until they finished.  I don't see any pattern as to which ones do this.  You have to readjust all the affected text boxes.

Hi James,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing that you've experienced a similar issue.

  • Would you be able to share your .ppt file so that we can take a look?
  • What version of Storyline are you importing the file into?

If you cannot share in the forum, then with your permission, you can send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
