Text entry field

I have used the techinique of text variables to allow a learner to input his/her name in a field.  What I would like to do is substitues a name only if the learner does not enter anything.

I don't want the text entry field in the course to show the name so, for example, I don't want to put "Learner" into the default for the name field.  I want the default text to say "First Name".

So, is there a way to have a condition that says "If %LearnerName% = nil then %LearnerName% = Learner

?

Hi Edward,

Yes, this can be done. In my example (see screen shot), I'm assuming Learners will (or won't!) type in their names and then click next. Not sure exactly what you had in mind, but this will get you started.

So you can see that the trigger is set to adjust the variable TextEntry (or whatever yours is called) to a value of Learner when the User clicks the next button ON CONDITION that TextEntry is equal to blank. Any questions, give a holler!
