Text Entry field validating ok in preview but not when published
Mar 28, 2018
Hi all,
I'm creating software training and on one slide, the learner has to enter enter a space( click the spacebar) into a field. I want to validate that the learner is actually clicking the spacebar. I've used a text entry field, and entered space (spacebar click) into one of the answer choices.
In "Preview" it works fine and the field validates correctly, however as soon as I publish the file, the text field validation doesn't seem to work anymore and instead it shows the "invalid answer" layer.
I'm getting this behavior when testing in Review and also when testing in Scorm Cloud. Publishing setting is Flash with HTML fallback.
Has anyone any experienced anything similar?

Hi- I'm using Storyline 360
Hi there Sandra!
Thanks for letting us know you already tested in SCORM Cloud. Would you mind sharing a sample of your file with me? Even just one or two slides will do. I'd like to have a closer look.
You can click here and attach the file to a new thread comment. Look for the Add Attachment button.
Hi Alyssa- Is there a way to send this via private message?
You bet, Sandra! You can share the file with us privately by clicking here.
I have a slightly different question about "Invalid Answer". My slide has a text field pre-populated (by variable) with 09.00 which is a deliberate wrong answer. The question they must answer is "Is this the correct time?" If they click "Yes", the Invalid Answer displays. How do I get the Try Again feedback layer to display if they don't touch the field? I am using SL3.
Hi William!
I think I've got an idea of what you're looking to do, and I created this quick video tutorial to show you how to achieve it. Let me know if you have any questions about that!
Hi Alyassa - brilliant solution, thanks, it works!
Wonderful! 🎉 Thanks for letting me know.
