Text-entry survey question opening with Feedback in Preview

May 09, 2014

Hello!

I am building an Articulate Storyline online training that needs to be 508 accessible, so I am testing everything by tabbing through in Preview. I have built 2 survey text-entry questions with feedback and for some reason when tabbing through in Preview, the second one opens to the Feedback layer without allowing me to enter a response in the text-entry box.

This does not occur when I use my mouse to click through in Preview.

Help! I have tried putting a text slide in between the 2 questions, but it hasn't seemed to affect that second question tabbing to the feedback without a response entry being typed in when tabbing through...

Thanks in advance for any advice on this issue. Here is a screenshot of that second question, if it helps.

Hi Ana and welcome to Heroes!

From that image alone, I'm not sure I am following the set up and what you're experiencing. But it looks like your layer is showing (the "continue" button) and you need to click on that first to continue past it and enter the text entry box again. If you're unable to access that button with the tab key, you'll want to check the "Alt Text" set up within the Size and Position window for that button.

If you're still having difficulty with it, can you share that one slide with us so that we can take a look?

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome! The problem I'm having is that the feedback layer is showing up BEFORE I enter any text to answer the survey question on the slide. This only occurs when I use the tab key to navigate through the slides. When I click through with my mouse, it works as it should. Attached are the 2 slides, with a slide before and a slide after for padding. I am wondering if I need to build the interaction manually in case it's a glitch with the question builder not aligning with tabbing through (for accessibility).

Please advise.

Ana
