Text variable with Reference - not working?

Nov 15, 2013

Hello!

A total newbie here - new to the forums and Articulate.

I am trying to add a 'reference' to a text data entry and it just doesn't seem to be working.  I've followed the tutorials but the reference doesn't show up when I preview.

Here are the steps I took:

- I inserted a data entry on a slide (I even re-named it as suggested )

- On a following slide, I added a reference to the text entry and it looked like I did it correctly because it showed as %name%

- When I preview, I add my text answer but the answer does not show on the following slide where the reference is

I feel like I am missing something so basic...  Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Angela,

Welcome to the forums.

Here are 2 suggestions:

  1. Be sure you are using the variable name between the % symbols, and not the name of your textentry object.  You can see variable names by pressing the X symbol just under triggers.
  2. Check that the variable name you are using matches exactly what you are using between the % symbols (match the case).

Hi there, Shalimar!

It looks like Katalin was able to fix the problem by deleting variable names that had accented letters.
