Time elapsed on a module and loading time

Sep 27, 2013

Hi everyone,

I've been using these forums for quite a while, but until now I could always find the answer to my questions without having to ask them directly! There's a first time for everyting I guess

Here's my question. We would like to launch quiz contest for our staff, but in case there are a lot of people who manage to get 100% (or just the same score), we need a way to decide between them. Naturally what comes to mind is that the quickest wins.

So how does Storyline measure time? Does it start once the module is fully loaded or as soon as it starts loading? Because depending on their location, people might have really crappy bandwidths...

Thanks for your help!

Hi Stephanie and welcome to (your first post in) Heroes!

It will be the LMS that will track the time within a Storyline course (not your Storyline file itself) so you'd need to determine it from the LMS side. Generally timings for Storyline would show up in the LMS debug logs. If you're hosting this course within Articulate Online, the reporting we've set up there would have all the information you need, and timing starts when the first attempt begins (first slide not question) and ends when you finish the whole course. Most LMS's would operate in a similar fashion.
