Timeline auto adjusting

Sep 06, 2018

Hello,

I have noticed a consistent bug that the timeline will extend beyond your audio when you save and/or publish (not sure), but it will move on its own and extend, making it difficult to identify that it has even happened until you perform quality control. I have to adjust my timeline many times after I have already completed a slide and never touched it again. I have noticed this in both SL3 and 360. I hope that you will test this and finally fix this bug. This is not user error and very frustrating for it to continue as an issue this long. I have also discussed this issue with teams across various companies. Please fix. Thank you.

Hi there, Marcy.  Thanks for reaching out - it sounds like you're running into a pretty frustrating problem.

I couldn't find any similar reports of this behavior, so I'd like to get a bit more of your help to nail down exactly what's happening:

  • When you add the audio to the slide, does the audio extend the timeline initially?
  • Are you making any edits to the audio that would shorten the duration of the audio?
  • Do you notice that the timeline has the correct duration before you save, and then it has changed when you reopen the file?  If this is consistently reproducible, would you mind sending a Peek of what this looks like on your end?  Of course, not everything can be replicated on demand, so no worries if you can't catch it!
  • Where do you normally save and publish your projects (C: drive, shared or network drive, etc)?

If you have an example file that you can share, also, where this has been happening, I'd be happy to test it on my end!
