I would like to create a timeline using a slider. The learner will start prior to 1900's and move to the 20th century. There is text with each point on the slide. Should this be done with layers? Or can I still use text. On the video I watched it was mainly about pictures and not text, so I'm not sure how to add text.
I changed it, but my stuff for prior to 1900's should show up at 0, 1900's at 2, then I'll add 2000's for 3. So I should only have three spots on the slider.
Just looking at the file, I do not see any text box set to show at "2". There is one set to show at stop 1 and three only. Can you clarify which text boxes need to show at each stop?
Currently you have text box 3 (1908 - First National Mental health...) set to show at 3 in the slider, and text box 1 (move people out of mental...) set to show at 1 in the slider. You would want to switch the Text Box 3 to come in at 2 on the slider, then when you add 3 text in, set that to come in at 3 in the slider.
Set initial trigger to put Next button into disabled state, then trigger to change to Normal when slider = last stop or the state of textbox is normal.
This is something I've been working on as a personal project. I think it would be ideal for your problem. Take a look and let me know if this would help you.

You could create text boxes/shapes with an initial state 'hidden' then trigger them to appear as the slider moves to each stop
Ok. Not working. What am I doing wrong?
You had the text box overlapping the slider so the user couldn't drag the thumbnail.

What happens at Stop 1?
if you don't need it change your stops to end at 2.
so you will have text showing when the slider is in original position. Hide/reveal 1900s at stop 1 and 2000s at stop 2 (end of slider)
Hello Kendra,

I need the text that goes with 1900's to go with 2. I haven't added 3 yet.

I deleted it and started over. Here is what I have. I think it has something to do with the way I set up my slider.
Hi Kendra,
Your text box was still overlapping the slider, however I moved this and added trigger to show/hide the text.
Another way of doing this would be to add the text into layers and set those to hide other slide layers in the properties.
See attached.
This is great! Just what I wanted. Thank you!
Glad to help Kendra!
One last question....can I make it so the next button is disabled until they user goes through the whole slide?
Set initial trigger to put Next button into disabled state, then trigger to change to Normal when slider = last stop or the state of textbox is normal.
Hello Kendra,
You can set the next button to disabled at timeline start, then have it become normal when the slider reaches 3.
Jinx Wendy :)
