Tool bar inactive (disabled)

When I select the insert tab in Storyline, all the options(tools)are there but are inactive (disabled). I am just starting out with the tutorials. I have inserted a new slide but cant insert a shape because the toolbars is disabled. Can anybody help?

Double-click the slide to switch to Slide View. Once in Slide View,you'll see the Insert menu being 'enabled'.
