for some reason, out of the blue, the top layer is blocking bottom layer. have no clue. i certainly did not knowingly ask it to do this. the second layer simply blocks out the bottom one. is this a bug or a setting? the slide master does not appear either. whatever i edited onto the second layer shows (but, again, the bottom layer does not show through).
Do you have the layer properties set not to allow clicking on the base layer, or is there something on the feedback master, could you upload a slide so I can have a look?

It's like the Alpha channel layer on all subsequent layers has a bug and block layers underneath
Do your objects have an alpha Chanel, this will block objects below
Hi Phil, it's not objects iadd; it's a whole white screen that covers seemingly unrelated to any master slide.

I will tomorrow. it's like a bug. i had to go back to a older saved project, a good idea everybody better do.
Hi CR,
I'd agree with Phil, it'd be best if we can take a look at your .story file to see what may be causing you to not be able to access the layer.
