Tracking - Not in LMS

Has anyone tried to track SL use outside of an LMS?

I am not so much talking about completion or quiz score, but that data is important too. This tracking would be more like a web site's traffic: which parts of the CL did users visit, who clicked which items on certain screens or layers.

Is there a way to tie the SL to a database that could report on the traffic/usage?
