Tracking Storyline Survey in LMS

Aug 15, 2012

In one of my other posts, someone mentioned how easy it is to use google form and use it as a webobject in storyline.

Well i created a short survey and it was great, however our company would not allow us to use it since the data will be ultimatly be housed in google.

So i thought maybe I can do the same survey in storyline and track it in our internal LMS.

is this possible? I want a coule open ended questions, maybe a likert style question and some check the box type questions.

How can I do this in storyline and how will I be able to track it in my LMS along with my regular quiz.

I would like to know if you are successful.  In my experience, the survey feature is next to worthless in Studio and Storyline due to the difficulty of getting a report on the results back out of the LMS.  It is more the LMS reporting challenge than Articulate's fault.

If you want an easy to administer survey where you can control the results in-house, I recommend setting up a form in Adobe Acrobat and using Adobe's survey features.  It works remarkably well and the final result is an Excel like data base of all of the survey responses that can then be further analyzed in Excel.

I wish Articulate would set up an email function for survey response results that was similar.

So would the adobe survey be as a web object inside storyline?

Hi everyone!
I'm dealing with the same problem and I've found that using a likert scale with different questions in the same slide causes the tracking not to work properly (read "it does not work!").

Instead, if you use a single likert question per slide, the results can be tracked.

Hope this helps!

Edit: I'm using Moodle

Hi everyone,

I too need to add a learner survey at the conclusion of a Storyline module. It does not need to report back to the LMS, but on SUBMIT needs to send just the survey to a nominated email address. The problem is that many of the learners will be using PC's on which they have no email privileges or any sort of access to Outlook.

I am really stumped and very new to SL so any thoughts/guidance will be hugely appreciated.

Hi Tanya,

There was an update to Storyline 1 to include the likert information as a part of the information reported to your LMS and you'll see that in the release notes detailed here and information to download the update.

We no longer have the private message feature in the forums, so I'm not sure if Mauro will see this message - but you may also want to start a new thread with more information about the Moodle version you're using as well - as I know that can play a role in it.
