Trigger for Jump to URL/File not working
Nov 18, 2014
Hi,
After creating over 20 courses for this client in Storyline 1, I am having issues with the current one where the above trigger does not work on 'other' computers. It works fine on mine but...
I am thinking it might have something to do with the last upgrade that I did on this version last week, but I could be wrong. I am attaching the published as well as the source file. We have customized the 'Try It' button on slides 1.5 and 1.7 to launch a uPerform output (tool that the client used for screen recordings) and that has worked for all the courses in the past. But even the 'Print it' button on those slides does not display the pdf files. The same pdf files open normally from the Appendix link.
To really make things simpler, I added a 'Try It 4' button on slide 1.10 which should open Google.ca but even that did not work on the published file. Once again, everything works as designed on MY laptop but not on anyone else's.
I am attaching the source file as well as the published output for you to look at.
The last resort would be to start fresh on a new file :-(
Any help would be appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Parm

Hello Parm!
The try it link on 1.7, 1.5 and the try it 3 on 1.10 is directing to ./sim2/html/sim_standard.htm which is showing as an invalid URL.
The try it 4 button is correctly working directing to Google.
Do you have a different path to add to these triggers?
Hi Emily,
The path containing (./) on the 'Try it' buttons allows storyline to pick
up the published version of the uPerform simulation which is manually
dropped in the published folder. That is probably something I wasn't
expecting you to comment on.
But I was also concerned with the behavior of the 'Print it' buttons as
they were not displaying the pdf files which are accessible from the
Appendix. I am also surprised that the trigger for google is working on
your side.
Thanks for looking into it.

Hello Parm!
I was able to access the .pdf files in the Print it buttons as well. You may want to see if there may be a local security setting on the other computers that may be interfering with the links.
Hi Emily,
I really appreciate you confirming that. It definitely appears to be a
security/IT issue on the computers I am testing the course on, since it is
working on mine.
Thanks again,
Parm
Thanks for the update Parm, I hope you can get this sorted out!
