Trigger not working after update

Feb 06, 2018

I am having problems with SL 360 after the most recent updates. I have a slide with triggers that should change the state of objects after media completes, and none of the slides containing that trigger work. Any idea how can that be fixed? I'm using that specific type of trigger extensively and it's just not working anywhere. Tried several times, several ways, several SL files, tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and it didn't work either.

Any suggestions? Is there a way to undo 360 updates like in Windows so I can finish my work?

Hi Ulises,

Really sorry you're running into this. We've found a bug in Storyline 360 where the "when media completes" trigger does not work in Preview mode, but it does work after the content is published.

Is this what you're seeing, as well? I'd be happy to take a look at your file to confirm. You can attach it here or send it to our team privately.

Unfortunately I am using that trigger extensively in my courses. It's a big project with a lot of slides containing it. I cannot publish the course every time just to verify that the trigger works.

Ideally that bug gets fixed and I can continue my work. As is, publishing the course every time I need to verify that the trigger works is not feasible for this project.

I'll be waiting. Thanks for your response.

Great news, Ulises!

I’m excited to let you know that we just released another update for Articulate 360, and you can check out the new features and fixes in the release notes

One of the fixes addresses an issue in Storyline 360 where the 'when-the-media-completes' trigger did not work in Preview.

Here’s how you can update Storyline 360 to take advantage of everything the latest release has to offer. Let us know how you make out!

It does not work for me if I set any conditions in the trigger.

If I leave conditions out, it works.

My problem is I have set up some layers that I would like the learner to visit. If I track these by changing states of shapes, and then if all shapes are 'Visited' the learner can move on. This is not working even though I can set it all up. Does not work when media finishes, and does not work if I set it for timeline starts/ends, either one or both.

I resolved this issue by not relying on the media or timeline finishing, and just using the trigger 'Change state' and then selected the states that needed to change. This works.

Ashley,

I am away from my office today and interstate, but, when I get back I can send you a file with the issue. I will need to create a copy and then put it back to the version that did not work. I will admit I was probably trying to do the trigger the wrong way, as I had forgotten I could use the trigger for ‘Change State’ which works. How do i send the file privately as its part of a course that is commercially sensitive. If I can’t make it private I can always replace the information and just re-create a simple variation.
