Trigger on feedback Master
Mar 08, 2017
Hi, I'm trying to cutomise the feedback master.
I want the slides to automatically go the next slide if the answer is correct. However when I put this command on my button in my correct answer layer, it doesn't actually do the command when I test it.
What am I doing wrong?
I attached a file so you can see what I put in the feedback master and see what happens in normal view.

Hi Ludovic
do you mean you want the user to see the correct/incorrect layer and then it automatically goes to the next slide after xx secs, or if they make the radio button selection it bypasses the layers and goes automatically to the next side, or you want them to click the Ga verder button from the correct/incorrect layer to move forward.
Hi Wendy
i want the correct/incorrect layer to automatically go to the next slide after xx seconds when the answer is correct.
When the answer is incorrect I want thema to click on Ga verder button to move forward.
Hi Ludovic
I've made a change to the triggers on correct layer - hope this helps
Yes thank you
but my question referred to the master feedback slide. When I make the same changes to the correct layer (automatically move forward)in the master feedback slide it doesn't work when I make a new quiz slide.
Hi Ludovic
sorry - yes I am seeing the same behaviour in both SL2 and SL360 - what is interesting is when I go to make any changes to the feedback master layouts SL shuts down both versions.
Hopefully someone else will chime in with a solution for you.
Hi Ludovic,
There is a known issue with the triggers placed on the default button of Correct and Incorrect layouts under Feedback Master. It’s definitely helpful to understand how many folks are encountering this bug, so I'm really glad you shared your experience here. We're still working on a fix, and we'll definitely let you know when we know more.
For now, you'll want to add a new button to the Correct Feedback Master (off-stage) with the trigger Jump to slide next slide when the timeline starts on Button 2.
I made that change to your file and attached it here. Have a look, and let me know if this will work for you!
Ah Alyssa, I thought the bug was against the slide trigger so I tried that trigger but on the existing button that I'd moved offstage not a new button - good to know ;-)
Just a note I think the trigger should be 'when timeline ends' as Ludovic wants the user to see the correct feedback layer but wants it to advance automatically. But yes it works !
Got it - thanks for pointing that out, Wendy! :)
I am new to Storyline 360. I was taught that a new feature was the we could easily add formatting to buttons in Feedback Master slides, as well as triggers. But what isn't clear to me is what kind of triggers. Does this only apply to button triggers, or should the Feedback Master also allow me to include slide and player triggers? In my testing, it appears that only button triggers are applied to my recording slides. Forgive me if I overlooked an explanation somewhere - I've done quite a bit of searching on this. Thanks!
Hey Rory!
Can you tell me more about the trigger you're trying to add to the feedback master? You mentioned that only button triggers are applied to your recording slides -- can you provide an example of what you mean? Thanks!
Thank you! I am getting errors when trying to attach a jpg or insert an image.
Basically, I am adding these to the layout Correct and Hide layer for Try again.
Slide Triggers
Hide layer this layer
When user presses the Enter key
Next button
Hide layer this layer
When user clicks
Jump to next slide
When user clicks
Player Triggers
Jump to next slide
When user presses the Enter key
Hi Rory!
Thanks for that context. Check out this quick Peek video where I explain how you can add those triggers to the Feedback Master.
Let me know if that helps or if you had something else in mind!
Thank you! I've added a comment and some screen captures. The Feedback Master has the required triggers, but when I insert a recording the non-button triggers are not applied to the feedback layers. That is why I was wondering if only button triggers could be stored in the Feedback Masters and have them carry over to recordings.
Ah, I see what you're saying! Many triggers applied to a Slide Master won't actually appear on the layer itself, but the trigger should still work (even though you don't see it).
Are you inserting test mode step-by-step slides? Are these hotspot slides or text entry slides?
We use these triggers primarily on Text entry interactions, try mode feedback layers. But also on hotspot interactions, etc. But again, in Try mode. That is a really interesting comment - we won't see the trigger but it should still work - I never would have guessed that. I will give it a go. Thanks.
We are inserting in try mode, step-by-step slides. We have both hotspot slides and text entry slides. We have already seen that some of these triggers do not with hotspots, so no surprise. But the I am not seeing that the 'invisible' triggers are working on the text entry interactions, but I will test a bit more. Thanks.
Thanks for the follow-up, Rory. Keep me posted on how it goes! If you get stuck and you'd like me to take a closer look at your file, you can share it with me in a new reply here.
