Triggered state changes

Feb 06, 2019

Hi,

In the practice activity of triggered states (using hover over), I noticed that the triggers are working fine when the mouse hovers over the objects for a few times.

But after a few tries, there is a problem. If the mouse hovers over A then moved directly on to another object say B or C, the previous state triggers are remaining. This happens even on mouse leave.

Please check the images attached.

Hello Radhika and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know what you are running into with your project.

I'm not seeing any attached images.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

Hi Leslie,

Thank you :)

PFA the file (a practice file downloaded from Storyline tutorials)

The problem is in 'Practice' scene in slide 2.2 (mouse-over practice exercise).

The problem is that the previous state pertaining to the previous object persists after a few tries, when the mouse hovers over a new object.

Hey, Radhika. Happy to help! 🙂

I'm having trouble reproducing the state issue you see on slide 2.2 during Preview – here's a quick Peek recording of my testing.

I'll need your help so that we can explore some next steps:

  • What version of Storyline are you using? You can find this detail by clicking on the Help tab, then About Storyline.
  • Do you see this behavior during Preview, in the published output, or both?
  • Are you working from a local hard drive, or a shared network drive?

Hey Katie,

First, I would like to thank you guys for your prompt responses. I appreciate it a lot :) You guys are awesome and very helpful!!

Here's the info you needed:

  • I'm working on Storyline v3.11.14249.0
  • I see this problem in the Preview; I have not published it.
  • I work from a local hard drive.

I am attaching a video of the problem recorded in Storyline itself (as I did not know how else to record it).

The problem appears at the end of the video, after quite a few tries.

Please let me know if you can see it or else do I have to attach any other form of file.

Thanks and best regards,

Radhika

Thanks for the kind words, Radhika! I'll share them with the team. 😊

Appreciate your video! I do see some odd behavior towards the end of your recording where the C document gets stuck on the clipboard.

I'm curious if updating Storyline 360 to the latest version, 3.24.17733.0, will help resolve this oddity. Could you give that a try and let me know what happens?
