I am trying to assign triggers to two different objects on a content library template (Fractal, 4 columns), but every time I add a trigger to one object, it shows up on the other. Change or delete the trigger on one, it's changed or deleted on the other. It's like they're being treated as one object instead of two. Any idea what's going on here? It's baffling me! Thanks.
I'm unable to recreate the duplicate trigger behavior on the Fractal: Four Column Layout template, so I'll need your help. A few questions to help us nail down the culprit:
What Storyline 360 update are you using? You can find this detail by clicking on the Help tab, then About Storyline.
Is this issue happening with just this slide or multiple ones?
Do you run into this behavior in a new project file?
Thanks for your help. I am using v3.21.17083.0--I hope that's what you meant! I have only tried this on this slide, but I tried deleting the whole thing and starting over and had the same issue. This was a new project file. Thanks!
Appreciate this extra detail, Amie – and you nailed it! 🙂
I'm curious if updating Storyline 360 to the latest version, 3.24.17733.0, will help resolve this issue. Could you give that a try and let me know what happens?
If that doesn't help, would you mind sharing your slide with me so I can take a close look at what's happening? You can share it publicly in the forums here, or send it to me privately by using this upload link. We'll figure this out together!
I will try--I can't update without an admin log-in, so I'll have to find someone to help me. Once I do that, I'll see if it fixes the problem. If not, I'll share the slide. Thank you!
I tried having an admin user install the update and that doesn't seem to have worked. I'm going to have to open a ticket with our security group and see if they can help me. In the meantime, I just deleted the slide I was having trouble with and started from scratch with a blank slide (not from content library). I created a shape (oval), copied the shape, added a trigger to the first one (jump to slide x when user clicks oval 1). Now when I click on Oval 2, the same trigger is on that one, too. I'm baffled by this. I'm not sure how to upload a slide to show you, but that's exactly what I did from a fresh slide. Any thoughts? I just need two buttons that take the learner to two different slides--it really can't be this difficult...
Okay--I might be feeling really dumb. I think I may have been just looking at the Trigger list wrong. I am used to the selected object's triggers (actions in Lectora) being all that shows when I click on the object. In Storyline, it appears that all of the triggers on the slide show all the time. I'm still playing with this, but that might be what was throwing me off. I kept seeing the same trigger at the top of the list. I'll let you know if I get mixed up again, but that might be all it was. *facepalm*

Hey, Amie. That definitely sounds odd!

Sounds like a plan, Amie. I'll be here!

Hi Amie! No worries at all! It can take some time to get used to a new software, and I totally get the feeling. 😊
