Hi, I am not able to get the 2nd layer to trigger. Following an older post I saw, it said to add a shape in the background then trigger the layer to appear when the shape appears. Cue points didn't work, so I tried this method. The 2nd layer doesn't appear.
I finally got the 2nd layer to appear when the hidden shape appears on the timeline. However, when I preview the slide, the audio stops when the 2nd layer appears. Does this have something to do with hiding the base layer?
Yes, it appears hiding the base layer also controlled the audio. I also arranged the shape to send to the back so it didn't appear on top of the other image or text box.

Are you still having an issue with your layer?
The default properties for layers typically includes 'pause the timeline of the base layer', which will pause the audio. You can adjust this if needed.
