Triggers to change characters expression
Apr 25, 2017
Hello, I have created a SL presentation that creates scenarios for the user to select from for their answer to questions. I added several characters from Content Library. The movement calls for the characters to change expressions when the user selects a correct/incorrect answer. Unfortunately, the "Expressions" are not listed on the pull down menu, just the Built-In's and Drag and Drop are showing.
When I completed the practice activities from SL Practice Files, it worked great! I am at a loss. Any ideas?

Sharing your Storyline file (.story) via Add Attachment might help troubleshoot. Your character's expressions set on different layers and "Show Layer" triggers set correctly? That one way to switch expressions
Hi Cindee,
If you start with the action "Change state of" and then choose an illustrated character in the "On Object" drop down, you should then see the expressions listed in the "To State" drop down.
If you're not seeing this, then we'd definitely want to look at the file to see what's happening. I hope this helps!

Brian,
Can you take a look at the file, please?
Thanks,
Cindee
Hi Cindee,
Thanks for sharing your file.
The photo characters don't have the built-in expressions. Only the illustrated characters have those.
To add a state change like that to a photo character, you'd:
1. Select the photo character on the slide.
2. Create a new state (via the Edit States button). I'd give it a descriptive name ("sad", "happy").
3. Select the character in that new state.
4. Click Pose in the ribbon and select the alternate pose for that state.
5. Create your trigger to change the character to that state when user clicks...etc.
I hope that helps!

Thank you! It didn't mention that in the tutorial. ;)
Hey Elizabeth and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
